North Reddish Primary SchoolPosted by Sheila Oliver Sun, December 15, 2013 07:59:59
Text of a letter sent by a local resident to this week's Stockport Express:-"Thank you, Stockport Express, for revealing the latest twist in the saga of North Reddish School. Local esidents were appalled in September when we discovered that the school had been sold by Stockport Council at a knock-down price of £205k to a group of Birmingham businessmen.
The council was reluctant to reveal this to local residents even though details of the sale appeared on the Land Registry in July and were therefore a matter of public record. Now we are even more appalled to learn that the same group of businessmen plan to sell the buildings on at a potential profif of £500,000. Mr Hussein and his colleagues must be delighted at the possibility of making such a large profit for so little effort.
Is this state of affairs incompetence on the part of Stockport Council or naivety due to the bubble of secrecy they like to operate in? Perhaps Executive Councillor Mark Weldon, Barry Khan, the director of finance and Murray Carr, the head of property services should all go back to school. I understand that Stockport Council has sold another building to the same group of businessmen. Now I wonder that that went for."
My addition comment to this excellent letter is that Excecutive Councillor Mark Weldon, Council Soliticitor Barry Khan were both involved with a multi million pound offence under the Fraud Act 2006 in deliberately building the Vale View School too small deliberately causing a large loss to the council taxpayers, which is an illegal act.http://www.sheilaoliver.org/not-big-enough-one-year-on.htmlhttp://www.sheilaoliver.org/financial-irregularities.html

Dear Mrs Oliver,
I am writing in response to your request for information (ref FOI 7842).
The relevant Council Service(s) has searched for the requested information and our response is as follows.
A sale board was not erected as it was considered that this would be of limited benefit given the location of the building and the possibility that it may attract unwarranted attention as it would indicate that the building was vacant.

Dear FoI Officer
Were for sale signs placed at North Reddish School? If so, where and when?

The people who have allegedly bought North Reddish School are based here in Birmingham
It is alleged their names are:-
and it is believed they paid £205,000 for it.
This is what Councillor Kate Butler said she was told by the new owner:-
"NORTH REDDISH SCHOOL UPDATE. I've just got off the phone to Mr Hussain, one of new owners of the school.
1. He fully appreciates the significance of the war memorial and - get this - his grandfather was decorated for his service to this country in the First World War.
2. He's a businessman and wouldn't be so daft as to damage such a stunning feature of the building.
3. It would be illegal anyway as the memorial is protected by law.
I hope this puts your minds at rest as far as the ware memorial is concerned.
As far as what the new owners intend to do with the school, there was never any intention of turning it into a mosque as, in Mr Hussain's words "we're businessmen and there's no money in running a mosque". They have identified a need in the general Stockport/Tameside area for a special needs school for children and they are currently looking for a partner who specialises in this kind of thing to turn their investment in the school into a viable business proposition.
Again, to quote Mr Hussain - "We fully intend to preserve the school and its beautiful original features".
So, that's the very latest info we have. I should add that we're as disappointed as everyone else that the council hasn't been more transparent about what's happening. I guess to them it's just a simple commercial transaction but it's really frustrating for us when they don't recognise how strong people's feelings can be about such a significant local landmark.

No-one ever saw a for sale sign up. So why not?

I fully appreciate the potential issues. The problem is another educational use would not require planning permission as it is the previous use of the building.
I think we need to see precisely what options the owners come up with. Cllr Butler has posted on my Facebook page tonight the owner is possibly looking at some form of special school provision, but I have no other information than that at this stage.
Once I get more clarification of details I will see what options are available to the local community.
Bluntly, SMBC should not have sold the building on without thinking about the possible consequences for the locality, but this is just path of the course with this Council I'm afraid. They didn't even consult with me. But, hey, I'm only the Member of Parliament!
I will do what I can to support local residents. Let's see what further details the owners come up with.

North Reddish Primary and Junior Schools were described by a village green inspector as a perfect example of Edwardian schools.
The people of North Reddish loved these schools which were performing well. LibDem run Stockport Council, against the wishes of local people, said the schools were not fit for purpose and instead of renovating them as local people wanted, closed them down taking public open space illegally to build a prison-like ueberschool directly over a still gassing former toxic waste dump at the whopping cost of £10million plus. They tried to pretend the land wasn't contaminated - Sager, Webb, Goddard, Schulz, Weldon, Derbyshire, Khan et al, but eventually had to admit it was.
They failed to have the brown asbestos removed properly from the site and when I gave them evidence of the failure to do this vital task properly, they branded me "vexatious" and they still do.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0rCPnP5H9o
They took playing fields and failed to comply with the stipulations of Sport England and failed to drain the land as they should have done. For some inexplicable reason we were still paying "architects fees" amounting to thousands of pounds one year after the school opened.http://www.sheilaoliver.org/no-playing-fields.htmlhttp://www.sheilaoliver.org/drainage-problems.html
Now North Reddish Primary and Junior Schools have been sold off in secret for below the price of an average semi. A Mr Murray Carr, Head of Property Services, told a local resident that a for sale sign had been put up in the last year - not true. They have been sold off for the purpose of creating a new private school! You really couldn't make this up.
So, never vote LibDem. They are incapbale of telling the truth and dealing honestly with the very people who pay their fatcat allowances. They ignore serious safety concerns and are, in my experience, not fit people to hold public office.http://www.sheilaoliver.org/financial-irregularities.html
